10 reasons to visit and travel in Kyrgyzstan

1. Visa free regime for 61 nations !

The Visa formality for some of the “Stan” countries might be a real obstacle course !  However the Kyrgyz Republic has endorsed very effective change concerning the visa regulation. The citizens from Europe, USA, U.K and many other can visit Kyrgyzstan for up to 60 days in the best case or up to 30 days for the others. Don’t wait a minute and visit the Kyrgyz Republic. (contact us at info@nomadstan.com to know if your country is eligible to free entrance visa).

2. It is the place of Nomads.

Despite the excessive influence during the soviet union time and the enforcement of this nation into settled life, the Kyrgyz kept the link with their ancestral culture and the nomadic way of life. Kindness and hospitality are the main characteristics of this nation. Kyrgyzstan was part of the historic Silk Road (we better should say Silk Roads!) counting several trading points, caravanserai, and lodges for the nomadic merchants. Also during summer, you will be able to meet Kyrgyz nomads in the high altitude pastures for the transhumance. There you can spent one or two days under the yurt and as a veritable nomad!

3. Issyk-kul, the second largest mountain lake in the world !

“Issyk-kul” in Kyrgyz language means “warm lake” and was called so because the lake does not freeze during winters while surrounded with snow-capped peaks. The lake is pretty huge, 6236 km² of  clear water located at an altitude of 1600 meters! It is second largest mountain lake after the lake Titicaca in south America. The Issyk-kul lake is highly visible from the space as you can see on the picture below (courtesy of nasa.gov).

4. Kyrgyzstan, part of Silk Road Heritage !

You can still see in some region of Kyrgyzstan ruins and vestiges from the Great Silk Road time. “Tash Rabat” caravanserai is a good example, located at average altitude of 3200 meters, it was a step for merchants and travelers from Kashgar to the lake Issyk-kul.

5. Affordable price !

The tourism industry in Kyrgyzstan is in development, gaining each year more visitors. However, the budget for visiting the country is highly lower than the well known destinations as for example Paris, Fiji, New York, Tokyo…  Therefore with a good budget you will be able to enjoy various activities and travel around all the country.

6. Unlimited variety of tours type and activities !

The Kyrgyz Republic is about 198.500 km² mainly covered by mountains, valleys, lakes and pastures. It is the best place to enjoy outdoor activities but not only. Thanks to the modern infrastructures you can spent your time in a mall, enjoy skiing during winter, sleep under the yurt, have some horse trekking…

7. You love trekking and hiking? go to Kyrgyzstan !

Kyrgyzstan offers a lot of routes and itineraries for trekking lovers not depending on their trekking level. Easy, intermediate and difficult circuits are existing. You can combine Trekking with another activities as for example horse riding, kayaking, mountaineering, biking…

8. Country of the Horses…

Kyrgyzstan is the land  of horses ans sheep. The horse is taking a special place in every family and is part of the daily life. In the village children are riding horse at an early age (around 4-5 years old).

9. It is the place of Tian Shan Mountains !

Kyrgyzstan is covered by mountains for 94% of its territory. One of the natural border between China and Kyrgyzstan is the mountain range Tian Shan meaning in Chinese language “celestial mountains”.  There lies the highest mountain peak of Kyrgyzstan, the Jengish Chokusu ( or Peak Pobedy in russian language) with 7,439 meters !  Let me remind that Everest is located at 8,848 meters for good comparison.

10. You like food ? Be our Foodie guest!

Kyrgyzstan is located at the center of Asia, as a carrefour between North and South, East and West.

For this reason, the richness of the Kyrgyz culture and also the Kyrgyz cuisine is extremely important. They have absorbed the food culture from all countries around during centuries.

All types of dishes are available in Kyrgyzstan, however the meat is important part of the local cuisine and you will find it in quite every dish. If you are vegetarian or even vegan or if you have any food restrictions, don’t worry!

It is possible to have food without meat as Tofu, salads, dumplings… thanks to the Korean, Japanese ans Chinese community.

Have a nice meal!
