199.900 km² (U.S.A is 50 times larger, and United Kingdom is 1,2 times larger).
Topography:
About 90% percent of the territory is mountainous (up to 50% is at least at 3000 meters high) especially because of the Tian-Shan range as natural border with China.
Kyrgyzstan is landlocked country with Kazakhstan on the north, China on the east, Tajikistan in the south-east and Uzbekistan in the west.
Most of the cities are located at low altitude, Bishkek is only at 800 meters high with Osh and Jalal-abad at quite same level.
Climate:
The climate is continental, the winters are cold and dry with a temperature reaching -30°C and hot summers with a middle temperature above +30°C. Indeed, the climate is evolving quickly and is very different from a region to another one. In the Yssyk-kul region because of the large lake and the Tian-shan mountains, the climate is more comfortable during summer.
Fauna & Flora:
Kyrgyzstan is rich of various fauna & flora very changing according the place. Yssyk-kul is not Bishkek and Naryn is different than Osh city.
However, the forests, mountains and
vapour around me, and the meridian sun strikes the upper surface of the impenetrable foliage of my trees, and but a few stray gleams steal into the inner sanctuary, I throw myself down among the tall grass by the trickling stream; and, as I lie close to the earth, a thousand unknown plants are noticed by me: when I hear the buzz of the little world among the stalks, and grow familiar with the countless indescribable forms of the insects and flies, then I feel the presence of the Almighty, who formed us in his own image, and the breath of that universal love which bears and sustains us, as it floats around us in an eternity of blist.
