The Kyrgyz State Park “Ala-Archa”, which was organized here in 1976 on the northern slope of the central part of the Kyrgyz range. This place is attractive primarily for its accessibility. A good asphalt road was laid up to the park itself, which allows for 40 minutes to escape from the noisy city. In the summer, here you can hide from the sweltering city stuff and the hustle and bustle in the shadow of the giant Tianshan fir trees, admiring the snowy peaks, and in the winter to plunge into a real winter tale. “Ala-Archa” – translated from Kyrgyz means “motley archa”. Archa is the local name for juniper. The gorge has received such a name, because of the abundant thickets of juniper covering its slopes. Because of the many varieties of juniper that grows in the gorge and is different in color, it seems that the gorge is different colored.
Is located 77 km from Bishkek, at an altitude of 1775 meters. The mountain slopes are covered with numerous mountain meadows, and next to the resort there are fruit and ornamental trees. Local water has attracted visitors for centuries and Ysyk-Ata has become a place of pilgrimage. In the 19th century, local people expressed their gratitude to the healing properties of water, touching a large stone with a Buddha image, which dates from the 10th century.
Is located on the northern slope of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too ridge, in the basin of the river of the same name. The gorge is accessible to tourists, the distance from the capital is only 75 km. Meadow-steppe, high-grass meadows and forest-handicraft plants prevail. Not far from the road one can observe the Keget waterfall. Water rushes from the limestone terrace, which is located at the junction of the gorge of the left tributary of the Kegeti River and the main river valley. The height is 18-20 m. There is a lake Kel-Tor located in the same tract at an altitude of 2725 m above sea level. Along the banks adjacent to the river a large number of medicinal herbs grows, such as marshmallow, sage, St. John’s wort, rhubarb, string, medicinal thyme. On the slopes of the mountains among the bushes and firs you can find wild berries, strawberries, blueberries.
In the vicinity of Bishkek there are such natural sights as Ala-Archa National Park, Issyk-Ata Gorge and Kegeti Gorge, which attract tourists with their beautiful landscapes, waterfalls and unusual rock forms, and the local flora and fauna are very diverse.
